SANTA CRUZ, CA - Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center of Santa Cruz and the Santa Cruz Medical Clinic, were recently recognized for outstanding achievement in patient satisfaction and clinical quality. Both not-for-profit facilities are part of the Sutter Health network of physicians and care centers throughout Northern California.
Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center of Santa Cruz's recent patient satisfaction scores placed it near the top among U.S. hospitals participating in the survey. Since getting involved with the survey process five years ago, the hospital has consistently scored in the top 2% of the 428 hospitals throughout the United States using the patient satisfaction survey developed by Press, Ganey Associates, Inc. - Park Ridge Office. The comprehensive survey measures satisfaction with areas such as appropriate treatment and outcomes, adequate health education, food service and staff attentiveness.
In the recently released Fall 2001 Quality Index published by the PacifiCare health plan, Santa Cruz Medical Clinic scored the highest number of Best Practices in clinical quality and service among over two hundred medical groups surveyed in PacifiCare's service area. The Quality Index measures participating medical groups' performance in selected areas of clinical and service quality, affordability and
administrative accuracy. The Best Practice status is awarded when a group scores 90 or higher in a particular measure putting in the top 10% relative to other participating groups statewide.
“We are excited and pleased that the outstanding quality of care the hospital and our physicians provide to the Santa Cruz community has been recognized,” said Larry deGhetaldi, CEO Santa Cruz Area.
