The Santa Cruz Medical Foundation (SCMF), part of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF), has named Michael Weatherford - former vice president and chief financial officer of CHW/Dominican Hospital and chief operating officer of the Central Coast Alliance for Health - as vice president, Finance for PAMF's Santa Cruz region.
"Michael's appointment is a key part of our effort to continue our path toward a seamless integration with the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, including robust and integrated financial systems and shared financial knowledge," said Larry deGhetaldi, M.D., president of PAMF's Santa Cruz region. "Michael has an extraordinary background with a variety of health care institutions, including some here in Santa Cruz, and brings us a wide spectrum of experience including health care research, non-profit health plans, and private health care institutions. We greatly value the addition of his leadership and his skills to our team."
Mr. Weatherford has held lead finance positions at several healthcare organizations including the Physician Foundation at California Pacific Medical Center, Central Coast Alliance for Health, Dominican Hospital, Scripps Clinic, AMI Medical Center of Garden Grove, and most recently the Santa Clara Family Health Plan. He received his Bachelor of Arts from UCLA and is a certified public accountant. He assumed his role as vice president, Finance at PAMF on June 2, 2008.
"I've admired the work of the Santa Cruz Medical Foundation for a long time and the recent integration with Palo Alto Medical Foundation makes this a very exciting and challenging position - one that I look forward to tackling," said Mr. Weatherford.
